The Innovation Contest is an initiative created by Vall d´Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) in collaboration with ACCIÓ and ROCHE Diagnostics, which aims to promote the innovation that comes from hospitals and their associated research centres.

With this initiative we aim to raise awareness about health innovation projects, in order to attract investors and companies. At the same time we support the projects in the first stages, where we will assess the technical viability and the market. In addition, we want to award the professionals for their innovation.

Awards

- First prize for innovation projects based on results derived from biomedical research.

- First prize for innovation projects based on results derived from medical care.

- Second prize for innovation projects based on results derived from biomedical research.

- Second prize for innovation projects based on results derived from medical care.

The awards can be used for whatever purpose deemed appropriate by the participants.

In addition to cash prizes, the projects will have access to the following programs, in case they meet the conditions and requirements:

- Advising programs including TEA MAP and EMPENTA from ACCIÓ.

- The second part of the Valortec competition from ACCIÓ.

- “BioemprenedorXXI” program promoted by la Caixa, Biocat and Barcelona Activa.

Who can apply?

Anyone working in:

- Hospitals and research centers belonging to ICS.

- Hospital research centers of Catalonia accredited by ISCIII.

- Hospital research centers of Catalonia that are part of ITEMAS.

Which projects are applicable?

       - Projects resulting from research (novel diagnostic biomarkers, novel therapeutic targets, novel therapies,...).

       - Ideas and inventions from care practices that could be marketable (surgical instruments, diagnostic devices, tools,...).

       - Know how that could be marketable (BBDD, softwares, Apps,...).

Projects that have already been transferred or involve companies that are going to license the project, are not allowed to apply.

Registration through application form located on VHIR innovation competition website.

Registration period: from 12th of March to 24th of April, 2015.
