The European Respiratory Society has announced the call for Postdoctoral ERS/Marie Curie Joint Research Fellowships (RESPIRE) under the EU Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) - Marie Curie Actions.
About: The RESPIRE programme is supported through the FP7-Marie Curie Actions- PEOPLE-COFUND of the European Commission, Grant number PCOFUND-GA-2008-229571
The ERS is co-funding a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship programme (RESPIRE) jointly with the European Commission Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) - Marie Curie Actions, with the aims of:
- Promoting advanced science, research and training techniques in research, in the field of respiratory medicine and science in Europe;
- Supporting the exchange in Europe of outstanding scientists/investigators as well as clinicians with promising careers, actively involved in respiratory medicine;
- Contributing to the diffusion and implementation of new techniques in Europe and internationally.
- Highlighting and stimulating postdoctoral career opportunities in the respiratory research area in Europe.
Objectives: The RESPIRE programme aims to enable promising PhD holders and postgraduates holding 4 years' full-time research experience to carry out advanced research projects (1 year) in another European country. Applicants will be required to have at least 1 first author publication in an international peer-reviewed journal at the time of application.
Mechanism:
You can expect a decision by the second week of May 2010.
Approximately 10 applications will be selected.
The start date of the fellowship cannot be set earlier than July 2010.
Open to all nationalities, but only host institutions based in Europe may participate in the programme.
Applications must involve an agreement with a hosting/receiving institute in Europe where the fellowship will be carried out. The allocation of the fellowship grant is based on a complete and detailed project description (including work protocol and timelines), to be submitted by the candidate and carrying the endorsement of the host supervisor.
The ERS/Marie Curie Joint Fellowships are co-funded jointly by the ERS and the European Commission. The objective is to enable outstanding investigators and clinicians to carry out advanced research projects of scientific excellence in the area of respiratory medicine through a 12-month work period in another country in Europe.
