Transatlantic Networks on Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Research |
Fondation Leducq is a French non-profit health research foundation whith the mission of improving human health through international efforts to combat cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. To this end, Fondation Leducq has created its Program for Transatlantic Networks of Excellence in Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Research, to promote collaborative research in these areas involving centers in North America and Europe.
Object: Within the research areas of Cardiovascular and Neurovascular The principal aims of this program are:
- To develop international cardiovascular and neurovascular research networks that benefit from a demonstrable collaborative advantage;
- To advance science in the areas of cardiovascular and neurovascular disease;
- To apply the knowledge gained through research to promote the development of technology and therapeutics to improve human health; and,
- To support the career development of young investigators in cardiovascular and neurovascular disease.
Requirements of the network:
- Each network shall be built around a transatlantic research alliance involving two coordinators, the European and the North American.
- Each network may include other member investigators who may participate in the scientific program and in the administration of the network, to varying degrees.
- The size of the network may vary depending on the theme and on the type of research, and may not be determined fully at the outset. As a general recommendation, the total number of institutions should not be greater than 6.
Elegibility requirements:
- Participants must have expertise in cardiovascular, neurovascular disease, or a related field, and must be affiliated with an academic research center.
- The program is open to investigators worldwide, with the exception of the coordinator role, as described above.
- Participation of researchers that are currently involved in active Networks is limited to varing levels.
- Early-career investigators, may participate in the network research program under the supervision or support of one or more members.
Amount and duration: up to 4 Networks will be awarded, each for an amount not to exceed U.S. $6,000,000 over 5 years.

- LoI VHIR deadline: August 28th, 2014
- LoI official deadline: September 5th, 2014
- Notification of application status: Early November 2014
- Full Proposal deadline (if invited): February, 2014
- Funding to Commence: October 2015.
