Parkinson's UK International Innovation Grants |
Purpose: Parkinson’s UK is the largest charitable funder of Parkinson’s research in the UK. Their Internatiomal Innovation Grants want to fund high-risk, high-reward research that tests new and original ideas, tackling major scientific or technical hurdles in the fields of causes, treatment and cure of Parkinson's – including applications that focus on improving life for people with Parkinson’s now.
Research areas: The main objective of the Pakinson's UK is to lead closer to a cure, with four main aims:
- understanding why nerve cells die in Parkinson’s
- developing new animal models of Parkinson’s
- faster, better drug screening
- finding biomarkers for earlier diagnosis
Requirements:
- All applications must be made in English.
- Grants are tenable at a university, research institution, or hospital trust.
- Principal applicants should hold employment contracts that extend beyond the period of the grant.
Evaluation criteria:
- innovativeness and quality of the research programme
- quality of the researcher and team
- value for money
- appropriateness of the plain English summary
- budget and infrastructure
Funding scheme: Applications are invited for grants of up to 12 months and for a maximum of £35,000.
Parkinson’s UK will only reimburse direct research costs relating to the application submitted. We will not fund indirect costs nor will we pay on a percentage basis.
Deadline: September 13th, 2014 for electronic submission (One signed hard copy of the application must be submitted with copies of relevant approvals, up to one week after the deadline for electronic applications).
