The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) seeks to support research that will develop improved biomarker tools and clinical outcome measures to assist in clinical trial design, execution and interpretation of results. The goal of this initiative is to facilitate the development of biomarker and clinical outcome measures that enable objective decisions for advancing therapies through clinical development.
Fall 2015
Pre-proposal Due: May 27th, 2015 - 6pm (EST).
Full application: August 5th, 2015 - 6 pm (EST).
Deadline at VHIR: May 20th, 2015
The following types of biomarker studies are not encouraged under this initiative:
. Unbiased discovery efforts
. Proposals that do not contain any preliminary data in human subjects (novel tracer development projects are a potential exception to this rule)
. Projects that could not be implemented into clinical trials in the next several years
Eligibility requirements
Applications may be submitted by:
. U.S. and non-U.S. biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies or other for-profit entities, either publicly or privately held; and
. U.S. and non-U.S. entities, public and private non-profit entities, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, laboratories, units of state and local governments, and eligible agencies of the federal government.
Post-doctoral fellows are NOT eligible to apply as principal investigators to this program.
Budget:
There is no set budget limit for proposals. Investigators may request support for up to a three-year research plan and should provide a timeline with their pre-proposal. No more than 25% (academic institutions) or 10% (for-profit organizations) of the direct costs may go to indirect costs.
