Horizon Prize for Better Use of Antibiotics |
The European Commission has recently launched a prize which we think might interest you: the Horizon Prize for Better Use of Antibiotics.
It is a €1 million challenge prize that will be awarded for a rapid test to identify, at the point-of-care, patients with upper respiratory tract infections that can be treated safely without antibiotics.
Objectives:
The objective is to tackle the overuse of antibiotics and do something to halt the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance. You can find out more on our website/infographic.
Who can join the contest?
The contest will be open to any single person and legal entity or groups of legal entities established in EU Member States or in countries associated to Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme.
The prize leaves applicants total freedom to come up with a solution to the problem, be it from an established scient ist in the field or from an innovative newcomer. The award criteria just require the test to be cheap, rapid, easy-to-use for healthcare providers and non- or minimally invasive for patients.
Deadlines:
- VHIR deadline: 10 August 2016.
- Official deadline: 17 August 2016.
