ESCMID Young Investigator Awards for Research in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases
Goal: In 2018, ESCMID will again sponsor up to two ESCMID Young Investigator Awards for research in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases to recognize outstanding research by younger colleagues in these fields.
Requirements:
Nominees for the award should be born on or after 1 January 1978.
Appropriate research may be based on laboratory investigations, clinical trials, animal studies, or a combination thereof.
Nominees must have a valid Full or Young Scientist ESCMID membership. Members of the ESCMID Executive Committee are not eligible.
Self-applications are not accepted.
Documents neededd for the nominations (online submission):
- CV and proof of the nominee's age
- Complete list of publications, in which up to five publications over the last three years should be highlighted (in bold) to exemplify the nominee’s excellent work
- Description of the candidate, her/his career, her/his research interests and personal contributions to the various research projects she or he has been participating in.
- Two letters of support from individuals outside of the nominating institution.
- A colour photograph including the nominee’s name in the file name.
Presentation and announcement of the award:
During the 28th ECCMID, the Young Investigator Awardee(s) will be honoured with a special session. Each awardee will be asked to give a 20-minute lecture on the topic of their main field of research. The award winners will be announced through all ESCMID communication channels. The prize is endowed with EUR 5,000 to be used at the awardees’ discretion.
Timeline:
Nominations for 2018 will be accepted until 11 October 2017
The ESCMID Executive Committee will select the awardees who will be notified in December 2017.
