Eracosysmed: II JTC for European Research Projects on Systems Medicine |
The 2nd Joint Transnational Call ERACOSYSMED, coordinated by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), launches its call for European Research Projects on Systems Medicine.
Purpose: to foster the implementation of systems medicine approaches in both clinical research and medical practice by funding a number of high quality research projects that will improve our current knowledge of human health and disease. The added value to the Systems Medicine field should be demonstrated.
Scope: Within others:
- Understanding of disease complexity, early diagnosis of disease and the redefinition of disease phenotypes that will lead to better patient stratification.
- Understanding the influence of differences like gender, age, ethnicity or other relevant data for the development and treatment of diseases at an
individual level.
- Investigation of shared common early pathways among diseases such as metabolism, immunology and cell proliferation to predict disease
manifestation and progression

Eligible beneficiaries:
- Hospitals, primary health care or public health settings of the Spanish National Health System (SNS): As coordinator and as partner
- Participating institutions from the INB (The Spanish Institute of Bioinformatics): As coordinator and as partner
- Accredited Health Research Institutes (Institutos de Investigación Sanitaria acreditados, IIS): As coordinator only
- CIBER or CIBERNED: As coordinator only
- Universities and Research Performance Organizations (jointly with the abovementioned entities)
Eligibility criteria:
- Researchers participating, but not as Coordinator, for ongoing ERACoSysMed projects in 2018 can apply to the current call only as Coordinator.
- EXCLUDED PERSONNEL AS PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR: Those undergoing research training (e.g. PhD students, or “Río Hortega” contracts); Researchers contracted by a RETIC or a CONSOLIDER; Those undergoing postdoctoral training (e.g. “Sara Borrell“ or “Juan de la Cierva” contracts)
- Only one proposal per partner is allowed
Duration: 3 years
Budget:
- 100.000 € per partner (21% overheads included)
- 150.000 € per coordinator (21% overheads included)
1-2 research groups will be funded
Eligible costs:
- Personnel: Up to 3-year, fulltime or part-time contracts (only for additional personnel. Students and fellowships excluded); Small Equipment (Up to 40.000€ if Coordinator and up to 20.000€ if Partner); Travel and Allowance (Up to 9.000€ if Coordinator and up to 4.500€ if Partner); Consumables; Subcontracting (50% of direct cost)
Timeline:
- Internal VHIR deadline: 10 March 2017
- Pre-proposals official deadline: 17 March 2017 (17.00 C.E.T.)
- Invitation to full proposal phase: second half of May 2017
- Submission deadline for full proposals: 30 June 2017 (17.00 C.E.T.)
- Communication of the evaluation results: 22 September 2017
- Starting date of the project: 2018
