The VAP prevention efforts and improved results should focus on achieving greater compliance with packages of evidence-based prevention. The FADO project has verified it in Spain, by means of a multicenter collaboration carried out in five intensive care units for adults. This project represents a major achievement in preventing VAP in Spain. The collaborative study was sponsored by the Department of Health of the Generalitat and the Catalan Society of Intensive Care Medicine, in its safety program for the patient. This is a validation of "care bundles" (packages) in Europe. The results were published in late March in the journal Clinical Microbiology and Infection.

The article is the result of collaborative work between researchers at the Biomedical Research Center Respiratory Disease Network (CIBERES). A joint work with, among others, the team of Dr. Jordi Rello-head of the Clinical Research and Innovation in pneumonia and sepsis (CRIPS) of Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and group leader of node 18 in the Hospital Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona, ??and Dr. Jordi Vallès, member of node 33 of Taulí Parc Hospital in Sabadell, whose team leader is Dr. Lluís Blanch Torra, both of the Corporate Research Programme Pneumonia of CIBER’s Respiratory Diseases.
